Large Marble Statues for Temples and Institutions
Large marble statues are engineering projects as much as artistic ones. Block selection, structural balance, reinforcement points and transport all have to be planned before the first chisel stroke. Murtiya carves large marble statues for temples, ashrams and institutions, from 2 feet up to 6 feet and above.
Single-block carving wherever size allows, to avoid visible joints
Internal structural planning for tall, top-heavy figures
Base design matched to floor type and installation method
Crated, foam-moulded and insured international shipping
Scale changes everything. A 12-inch murti can be lifted by one person and dressed daily; a 4-foot statue needs a permanent platform, a plan for cleaning at height, and transport that will not stress the stone.
Planning the height
Statue height should relate to the sanctum ceiling and the viewing distance. In a room where worshippers stand 8 to 12 feet away, a 3 to 4 foot statue gives presence without crowding. In a hall viewed from 20 feet and more, 5 to 6 feet is usually more appropriate.
Structure and balance
Tall figures with raised arms or large crowns concentrate weight away from the centre line. We adjust wall thickness and, where necessary, plan internal reinforcement or a weighted base so the statue is stable in use.
Shipping and installation
Large statues travel in wooden crates with foam moulding around all carved surfaces. We provide lifting points and installation guidance, and can coordinate with your contractor for large temple projects.
