A Radha Krishna pair has one practical complication no single idol has: two figures to place, dress and clean.

Placement

Place the pair on a single platform so the two figures stay in correct relationship. Face them toward the worshipper — in practice you face east or north-east. Keep the pair out of direct sunlight and away from cooking areas.

Height

Sit the platform at chest height or above so the deities are slightly above eye level. Leave clearance above the tallest crown and space in front for offerings.

Dressing

Dress Radha and Krishna consistently — matching or complementary outfits read better than unrelated colours. Undercut jewellery on a well-carved pair lets cloth sit naturally.

Care routine

  • Dust weekly with a soft cloth, using a soft brush for ornament recesses.

  • Wipe with plain water after abhishek and dry fully, especially at the base.

  • Never use vinegar, lemon or abrasive cleaners.

  • After festivals, remove flower and food residue promptly.

If one figure is damaged

Small chips can be filled and polished. If a crown or arm is broken, stop handling the piece and have it assessed before attempting repair.

Frequently asked questions

Should Radha and Krishna be on one platform?

Yes, ideally on a single platform so the pair stays in the correct visual relationship and can be dressed together.

How do I keep a marble Radha Krishna pair bright?

Dust weekly, wipe with plain water after abhishek, dry fully, and never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.

Can I place Radha Krishna in a bedroom?

Many families do. Keep the shrine raised, away from the foot of the bed, and maintain a clean dedicated surface.
